Watch Them Fall
Originally intended to be just four stories tall, Glasgow's now-infamous Red Road flats are in the process of being demolished.
Initially conceived as a modest post-WWII housing project, the Red Road development was completed in 1950 and became an exemplar of how the best laid plans can go awry. Riddled with crime and gangs, the flats struggled through the 1970's. Two of the towers were then turned into a YMCA and student housing, while the remaining flats continued to disintegrate.
At long last Red Road is being ripped down to make way for something new. Check out the first demolition from this past June here and check out Red Road Demolition for more videos of the deconstruction as it takes place.
